Analysis carried out with social listening from Quantico.

It is well known that for Peruvians, national food is a symbol of history, tradition and, above all, pride. There are plenty of reasons for this, since due to their mixture, variety and unmatched flavor, Peruvian dishes have earned a special place in world gastronomy and in the hearts of everyone who tries them.

One of these signature dishes is rotisserie chicken. According to data from the Peruvian Poultry Association, around 130 million rotisserie chickens are consumed annually by Peruvian families, making poultry farms one of the most common businesses to start and also one of the most profitable.

Active Listening
At Quantico we decided to listen to everything that is being said mexico whatsapp number social media and digital media about this emblematic dish. We analyzed more than 206,943 conversations on and off the public channels of the main chicken restaurants in Peru between January 2019 and July 15 of this year.

In Quantico's conversation evolution chart, we observed a notable increase in people who mentioned wanting to eat rotisserie chicken in the month of March. This was due to the COVID-19 crisis and the closure of all restaurants and public spaces. The “lockdown” meant that many Peruvians went weeks without eating one of their favorite dishes. The Peruvian Poultry Association points out that approximately 750,000 rotisserie chickens are consumed on Sundays, and on special dates this number increases by up to 25%. It was more than two months without this popular dish accompanying the lunches and dinners of Peruvian families.

Our demographic panel allowed us to identify that conversations about grilled chicken are mostly made by women (52%), and with the geolocation feature we located the 7 most chicken-producing districts in Lima. In first place is Surco, followed by Miraflores, San Miguel, Jesús María, San Borja, La Molina and San Martín de Porres.
