Digital marketing is a mix of intuition, hard work, and a desire to listen to what is being said about your brand . If these points are not given due attention, even the best digital marketing campaigns can fail to reach the market. Out of these factors, the last one (listening to what is being said about your brand) is particularly important in designing the most effective netherlands phone number marketing strategies, and it is here where common mistakes in digital marketing are made. But what exactly is it that you should be “listening” to? None other than: metrics.

However, all too often, this data goes unnoticed and marketers focus on “beautifying” their sites and blog posts, instead of focusing on what will actually increase their conversions. Stop!

There are 2 aspects in which the vast majority of marketers fail
#1 Overanalyzing everything
Focus on the metrics that really  matter to your business.

Some small businesses, in an effort to keep their marketing costs down, choose an employee with “some” marketing knowledge and give them the responsibility of looking after everything pertaining to the digital marketing space . The problem starts when these employees start over-analysing everything they do without looking at the real metrics: conversions, purchases, new customer creation or other key indicators. Whether these lead to conversion rates or direct and organic traffic channels, make sure you are steering the right course.

#2 Thinking that creating “perfect content” is enough
The primary focus of web content should be to inform, educate, and build relationships with customers. However, businesses know what goes in and out of content marketing; they understand that it goes beyond churning out great content. In fact, content creation only covers half the job. Reach, relevance, and connection with the audience is more important in determining success.

How small businesses can improve their digital efforts
Covers the basics:
Everyone wants their posts to be perfect or their videos to go viral , but chances are you're not achieving either of those right now. Instead, aim to release constant content and updates on your social media channels, targeted to your market.

Consider your staff
You probably have a kid who's on summer vacation and would love to tweet, but that doesn't mean you should consider him or her a professional community manager for your company . Because social media is such a huge influence on purchasing decisions, you need people who understand not only how to use social media, but also what messages should be shared on each channel and how to connect with customers through social efforts. This goes for content creation and other digital efforts.

Measure
If you're not measuring your marketing alongside your business goals, then you're wasting your time and energy. I believe that marketing has two overarching purposes: creating customers and keeping them. If your goal is to create lead generation , then measure that. If your goal is to satisfy your customers, then measure that. Whatever you do, don't just have aimless marketing and hope for success. After all, hope is not a strategy.
