Internet Explorer 9 is now in public beta and it seems that it is coming with the intention of once again being the darling of the pack and competing directly with more advanced browsers such as Firefox , Chrome or Opera in terms of quality.

The truth is that such a statement is hard to digest for those of us who have spent years fighting with the incompetence of previous versions, but it is true. The beta of IE9 has been tested and the results are very good .

It seems that Ryan Gavin , global head of IE , has his mind bc data india made up and has set out to create a browser with a renewed interface, minimalist, usable, fast (hardware acceleration) and powerful (new JavaScript engine).

On the other hand, from now on we can say that Internet Explorer 9 will support HTML5 and CSS3 , that is, the new technologies that are still in their infancy and that will mark the future of the web.

But not everything is joy, because this new software has a huge drawback: It will not be compatible with Windows XP .

Ryan Gavin has said in several interviews that the new browser can only be installed on computers running Windows Vista and Windows 7. According to Ryan, this is due to security issues :

«Today's web demands a modern operating system, a modern browser, and more capable machines. It will run on Vista and Windows 7. For example, Internet Explorer 6 was not built for the use it was given later. It had no hardware acceleration, and no support for applications that came later. Our commitment must be to the future. And taking care of security requires improvements that an old operating system cannot provide.»

Even though this affects me as a programmer, this guy is not wrong (without going into whether it is a commercial strategy to sell more Windows 7). Let's remember that Windows XP is an OS that was born in 2001 and died in 2006 with the arrival of that pain in the ass called Windows Vista.

According to Wikipedia, Windows is installed on 89% of computers worldwide . Of that percentage, around 55% still use Windows XP and the rest Windows 7 and Vista.

That is to say, as of today, more than half of Windows users will not be able to use the new browser , slowing down the modernization of the web a little more and creating headaches for web designers and programmers.
